SCIENTIST · RESEARCHER · SCIENCE COMMUNICATOR
Hi! I’m Vanesa Rostán Carrasquera
I’m a Uruguayan scientist connecting research and science communication.
Chemistry · Environmental Science · Ecotoxicology · Pollinators · Science Communication
Curiosity has taken me across disciplines, laboratories, and countries.
My experience combines chemistry, environmental science, toxicology, horticulture, and microbiology. Across these experiences, one question continues to guide my work: how can science help us make better decisions for people and the environment?

I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Chemistry, specializing in Agriculture and Environment, from Universidad de la República (Uruguay), and earned my Master of Science from the University of Florida (USA) in 2023.
Over the years, I have worked in research, industry, teaching, student mentoring, and project coordination.
I could say that I divide my time between doing research and communicating science, but the truth is that I cannot think of one without the other.
For me, bringing science and communication together is not just a passion: it is my profession.
MY ROOTS
Science, countryside, and cheese.
I was born and raised in the countryside, in Cañada Nieto, Soriano, Uruguay, in a cheesemaking family.
Although my path has taken me through different laboratories, disciplines, and countries, I remain closely connected to my family and to Rostán Quesos Artesanales.
